The Promise of the Almond Tree

The Promise of the Almond Tree, Acrylic Painting, September 2010

11 The word of the LORD came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?”
“I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.

12 The LORD said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching [a] to see that my word is fulfilled.” (Jeremiah 1:11-12 NIV)

This painting represents God keeping his word and fulfilling his promise. I started off with the intention to make an olive tree, but unconsciously I switched it to an almond tree early in the process of getting reference points. I believe God was leading me in a different direction. He began speaking to me about how he is good on His word, so if he gave you a promise you can expect to see it fulfilled. This is a sign of encouragement to those who are currently struggling and are having trouble believing God and his special promise to you. This painting serves as a reminder that you can trust God. He watches over his word to perform it and once the Word is spoken it will be fulfilled! This may be now or later down the road, but don’t lose heart. Believe God!
