Chosen

Chosen, 02.09.23, mixed media on 8×10 canvas

About the Art: This mixed media painting is titled, “Chosen.” It was done as part of my Psalms 102 Ministries workshop on rejection, which is tomorrow, 2.11.23. The title of the workshop is “Addressing Rejection through the Word of God and the Power of the Holy Spirit.” It is my example art of the kind of art we will be making in the workshop. Let me share the four main scriptures related to the art below, and then I will explain more about the workshop and the art we will do.

The main scriptures related to the art:

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (1st Peter 2:9, NIV)

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? (Matthew 6:26, NIV)

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (Matthew 10: 29-31, NIV)

1The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17, NIV)

More about the workshop and this artwork:

I am having the workshop participants ask God what lies they believe which are tied to their rejection issues. They will forgive those people who caused the lies to develop and forgive themselves, then ask God what He has to say to them in response, then make art about His response. For instance, what would God say about who you are? How would God address your rejection? Later (outside of the workshop), they can then match scriptures to the word God gave them.

I did this for myself. If you want to see my example, I will post it below. This image of the bird goes with it. I shared the main scriptures that went with this image above, but all together, God gave me 130 scriptures. I think it took me 16 hours just to match all the scriptures. I realize I can get carried away, but below, you will find a condensed version where I just linked one scripture to where it was relevant.

Also, concerning the art, I want to add that God also showed me that we are coming into a season or renewal and revival and a time of great light, which will penetrate the darkness. That is why I included the daffodils and the bright sun above them. Daffodils are among the first flowers to bloom after a cold winter.

My example of the exercise addressing rejection we will be doing:

1. First, ask God to show you the lies you believe about yourself related to rejection.

My lies:

I’m not worthy.

I’m not loveable

I’m not deserving.

I’m not good enough.

My efforts are in vain.

I’m being punished.

I must suffer to prove myself.

I’m alone and abandoned.

I must earn approval, love, and protection.

2. Look at those lies and ask God the source of each one. Forgive each person who harmed you and led you to believe that.

3. What does God say to you in response to those lies.

God’s truth; what He says to me.

You are my special daughter; a royal Queen: a royal priesthood; more valuable then gold or fine rubies. I purchased you at a great cost; my precious son shed His blood and died for you, an excruciatingly painful death (Matthew 27; Mark 15; Luke 23; John 19). You are valuable to me. You are worthy of my love. You are very deserving of my love and goodness. You are worthy to receive everything I have to offer in my Kingdom. You don’t have to earn it. You have access to it because you are my daughter. You are never alone, and you don’t have to prove yourself to me. You just simply have to be yourself, the person I created you to be, and spend time with me. Let me love you and show you how special you are, how much I love you. Your life is not in vain. It has not been for naught. I work all things out for your good, and turn your mistakes and misfortunes for my glory. My will is not for you to suffer, but to live a rich, abundant life. I sent Jesus and I see you through the eyes of Jesus so you are perfectly wonderful and holy. I will always treasure you and treat you the way you deserve. You have not been treated well, but I want to make that up to up to you. Accept and receive my full love and all my gifts. Receive my full life. Do not shun my love or reject my gifts because of these lies any longer. I will always love you and be here to take care of you. You are never alone and without a good Father. Rest assured that I will take care of you and show you how to be loved.

Your loving Father, God

Step 4: Match scriptures to the rhema word.

Step 5: Create art about it.

I will be teaching them some new techniques of geli printing and also how to use flexible modeling paste with stencils.

Fun! Fun! Fun!

I have overcome extensive trauma and sexual abuse and now I share my testimony and teach/preach what God has to say about the recovery process through both logos and rhema words. I love nature, dancing, worship, and all creative expressions. I have a heart to see families restored, curses reversed, and generational blessings released.

  1. Rejection is such an insidious attack from the enemy. I can relate to the lies. Thank you for sharing your process and the related Scriptures to replace the lies with truth. Very helpful. I will be incorporating this into my studies!
