Alcohol ink frenzy

I decided that I’m going to concentrate on making a collection of alcohol inks to be sold on Etsy. This medium is less labor intensive for me compared to my typical mixed media art, and it may also be more profitable. It will also be easier to organize and keep track of. I’ve already bought some portfolios to store it in.

Of course, I still will be making other art and probably selling a few other things! I just want to get a collection going of the alcohol inks. Getting my Etsy store going is a goal for 2023.

So this past week, I have been making presents for family members and friends using the alcohol inks. I’m getting more practice at it. I also purchased more colors, paper, and accessories. I even purchased canned air and practiced with it.

This was my 1st attempt at creating sunflowers after watching a video. My brother loves sunflowers 🌻 so I wanted to make him a painting.

I made 3 attempts altogether. This was my 2nd attempt. I ran out of dandelion yellow, so I started using “lemon yellow.””

And my 3rd attempt.

This 3rd sunflower attempt is the one I decided to give my brother. My canned air ran out as well before I perfected it, so I decided to use a regular paint brush for the finishing touches.

Then I went on to practicing using stencils with the alcohol inks. The trick, according to this video, is to first squirt your alcohol inks over top of the stencil, then let it sit on until it’s dry.

This one is my favorite!

Then I went on to making a nature scene for my step-father. He loves trees. I’m not that happy with it yet.

I’ll have to come up with more titles later. None of the colors are edited here except this last one where auto correct lightened it up some.
