The Overflow

The painting consists primarily of alcohol inks with a black sharpie, white painter pen, and oil pastels added.

This painting is in response to a vision/dream that I had Friday morning on June 5, 2020 which I feel is from the God and prophetic in nature.

I am very pleased that for the first time I was able to capture a vision that God had given me in such fast turn around time. Normally, I get bogged in the details or overwhelmed with how to deliver, which is why most of the time the Holy Spirit works with me and speaks to me during spontaneous art making.

In the vision, I saw heaven open up and out of it came an overflow of fresh, living water. It was flowing down to the Earth into 8 different buckets. Each of the buckets were also overflowing.

I have been asking God to clarify what this vision means. I sense a personal meaning, but also a corporate meaning. I remember counting the buckets and noticing the distict number, 8. Eight is the number of new beginnings, regeneration, resurrection, and new order.

What is interesting is how this painting interconnects with a dream I had in November 2019 (about a tornado and then a shift) and then also to a sign and wonder I had about restoration in October 2012. This vision and subsequent painting confirms a word about restoration that God gave me 8 years ago on October 31, 2012 followed with signs and wonders, one of which was a $50 bill that was torn and scattered during a hurricane. Somehow, despite the heavy storm winds, I found all the pieces, taped them together, and spent it on art supplies.

Is it a coincidence that 8 years later I am now 50 years old; Or that our country today has been ravished by a different kind of storm called the coronavirus, racism, injustice, corruption, hatred, civil unrest, rioting, deception, and economic peril?

God has been using significant numbers in my life to talk to me, and I only recently started noticing. #5 stands for grace. The dream about the overflow occured on the 5th of June; today I am 50 years old; and the sign of restoration that God gave me 8 years ago was also a $50 bill that was torn apart, but then restored. It had never lost its value. There is 8 buckets in the painting and the prophetic sign about restoration was 8 years ago! Remember 8 means: new beginnings, regeneration, resurrection, and new order. 50 represents jubilee and a time of being set free from debt!

Perhaps it could all be coincidence, but it won’t be the first time, and it probably won’t be the last that God has spoken to me through such “coincidences.” To me they seem so extraordinary that I think they qualify as prophetic signs and wonders. If you look back (link included) you will notice the dream God gave me back in November, 2019…prior to when the Covid-19 pandemic struck, and the dream seemed to speak to our current times and crisis. The dream involved a tornado (another type of storm), a shift, a major crisis, and then a new order where saints united to solve the problems with clear directions, assignments, and provisions. So what I hear God saying is that despite the storm and upheavel that our nation is currently in, God plans to open up the heavens and pour out his grace and overflow. He plans to restore. He plans to heal. He plans to revive and rejuvenate. He plans to create a new order amidst the chaos. Even in my dream there was a new order being established. I believe we are about to see God move in unprecedented ways to shift our nation back to God. I believe revival is coming in response to the saints rising up, taking their rightful places, getting their assignments, and interceding for our country. I believe we are going to see the greatest restoration and new beginning that we have ever seen! I believe the Light is coming, rising up in this very dark hour. I believe we are going to see a move towards unity. Saints are going to stand up in one accord to overthrow the principalities of darkness. We are taking our country back!

Amist all the corruption, all the lies, all the hatred, and all the violence God is moving. He has heard our cries. He has dispatched his angelic forces on our behalf. He is here to answer our prayers. It is time for war! Time for contending! Time for Breakthrough! I personally believe 2020 is going to be the year that promises are fulfilled as God pours out His glory. Pentecost is coming to America!

For now, we are in the birthing hour where things are very intense and painful, but we need to keep pushing. We need to keep interceding. We need to press into God now more than ever before. We are on the cusp of overflow!

Oh, one more thing: That gold flowing into the water kind of came from nowhere. God is always doing pleasant surprises with my art. I believe it’s the gold He is filling us with, gold poured out in all our cracked, broken places, making us more beautiful.

It’s called kintsugi (金継ぎ), or kintsukuroi (金繕い), literally golden (“kin”) and repair (“tsugi”). This traditional Japanese art uses a precious metal – liquid gold, liquid silver or lacquer dusted with powdered gold – to bring together the pieces of a broken pottery item and at the same time enhance the breaks. Literally this also confirms the restoration God is doing with our broken lives and our broken country.

I also believe it is provision and wealth for his saints to be used for Kingdom purposes. Lastly, I just think it is his glory.

Any thoughts about this? God often has so much hidden within my paintings that I don’t always get it all. Sometimes it will be something hidden just for you. What do you see or notice? What is God telling you? We all know in part, and when we put it all together we know more!
