Spring breaks forth!
13×11 inches, mixed media on canvas. Prophetic painting created Saturday, February 24, 2018
This is a painting I made at a place called the Riveroom, where people gather on Saturday nights to hear live Christian music. The band was called, “The Elastic Army Band”, and they asked for prophetic painters to come and worship with them. I’ve been working on several pieces which are ongoing, but I felt called to bring something fresh to work on since they specifically wanted prophetic artwork, even though my other pieces are prophetic as well, they weren’t really about what God was releasing that night. I had no new canvases, so I decided to bring a used canvas that had been donated to me by one of my friends. Her little girl had used it and no longer had an interest in it. So I used it to do some “cheap” pouring fluid experiments which didnt turn out great. On top of that, my 4 year old grandbaby got a hold of it and ripped off a large section of it off the top, so the canvas I brought in looked sort of ugly…but I had prayed on it, and felt that’s what God wanted me to bring.
So I was a little embarrassed to begin with as people looked curiously at me to see what I was doing…and I sat at a table in the back…I wasn’t up on display. I prayed, but had no particular vision ahead of time. I felt like God wanted me to go ahead and start in my usual, spontaneous way. I started off in the peeled off section on top of the see-through gesso, using permanent markers to make decorative touches. People were looking and I was asking God to please help me pull this one off!!It honestly came together a lot faster than my paintings typically do. God began to show me different things about half way through, maybe. I did nearly all of it there in that 2 hour sitting, except for the moon, stars, butterfly, and loose ribbons. But I pretty much had a clear vision for it at the end of the sitting and I knew almost all of the message. Many people stopped by to look and ask questions and I was thankful to God for helping me to do what was asked. I shared the things God showed me.
Here are the prophetic messages God showed me:
The canvas was ugly and discarded. It looked like it had no value and could never be used, yet God chose that canvas to use. What it had been through did not impact God’s ability to use it even in the slightest; in fact, God worked around those flaws and transformed them. You can still see the outline of where the pouring fluid had been peeled off. That area would become the night sky. The message is that God can still use us no matter what we’ve been through and he can make something beautiful of our lives just the way we are. Don’t write yourself off!
God showed me that the light is breaking forth through the darkness. It’s a new day, and our winter has turned to Spring! God has been at work planting all kinds of things in our night hour, and now those seeds are breaking forth into new growth! God is blessing us with all kinds of new things… new beginnings, joy, peace, and freedom! He’s releasing creative miracles for healing, breakthrough, deliverance, and new endeavors…and it’s all through the blood (shown at the top of the painting) that was shed and is dripping down into our landscape where things are just bursting forth with new life! Things are bursting forth in creative ways to produce the things God has for us and to build his Kingdom. There’s even more seeds that haven’t come up yet. There’s also things coming up that we didnt even know were planted such as those two unique red flowers! This is the garden of our hearts and lives, what God has been working on!
The yellow butterfly represents our transformation as well as our freedom. This butterfly had it’s ugly catterpillar days, but those ugly caterpillar days are long gone! Now, it’s coming into a new expansive place where it has everything it needs in the Kingdom. The tiny fence is a hedge of protection, not around us, but around the Enemy to keep him from coming into our territory! He is so tiny in comparison!! A tiny giant in God’s Kingdom! Don’t make him out to be more than he is.
There’s ribbons as decorative touches because God likes to give us pretty, special things, the kinds of unique things that are meant just for us which will make us happy and make our souls sing! I happen to like pretty ribbons.
There are pillars of fire on each side of the flowers as God’s consuming fire continues to burn away the impurities in our heart and empowers us to walk more in obedience and the knowledge of his love so that not only are we more fulfilled, but so that we can give that love away to others. It purifies the motives of our heart and enables us to accomplish all that He wills for us.
Also, there’s a reward ribbon to the right above the consuming fire. This represents even more rewards which we will get later. God calls us overcomers.
It is not uncommon for God to hide secret messages in my art. Do you see anything else that God is showing you?
Related verses God put in my heart for this:
“Arise, shine! For your light has come; the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.” (Isaiah 60: 1, ISV)
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1, NLT)
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21, NKJV)
“Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 8:34-36, NKJV)
The painting is exquisite.
